Photographer's Note
Yes, I hope it's clear this is Manhattan/New York, and I don't really have to tell explicitly.
Although the shot was taken 18 years ago, maybe this is a kind of timeless scene in the city.
I found this scene with symmetry in the foreground and also in the building back there in the background.
The primary emphasis is of course on the two guys having their break - with the yellow cabs giving the New York feeling.
I could have cloned out the bag of the woman in the middle, to make the face of the guy more visible, but then decided it's nice that each of the three there is carrying a shopping bag.

hi daniel,
although i think i understand an idea behind this image, with the two folks defining symetry for this image, i think i miss something here, i miss some kind of a "kick"...
but as i mentioned - the idea is cool!
best wishes, j.

Fine idea. Maybe Jerzy is right about symmetry, but nevertheless, it is still fine photo.

Hi Daniel,
I like your Manhattan city shot. It definetly says New York.
Nice composition with the two men in the foreground and the cabs in the background.

Real Nice, perfectly balanced, I have never been to NY but I can almost hear one of the cabbies shouting "hey ass*ole!" good work

I agree with Jerzy a bit. I would LOVE it if you had put a sexy girl right in the middle of the space where they are looking, just walking by. As this is Manhattan, those arent in much shortage:)

Hi Daniel,
Eighteen years ago, but it should a picture can are of yesterday, the peoples and cars are almost the same or today, the symmetry of the two man in foreground and the depth to the car gives a nice composition, very well done! TFS.
Greetings,
John.

Hi Daniel,
this scene you can continue seeing it at the present time, I like how you caught it.
I recognize the place, in background it is the statue Atlas of Lee Lawrie in the Rockefeller Center, and this street with the yellow taxis is 5th Avenue. The men are seated in the stairs of Saint Patrick's Cathedral.
Perfect daily scene of Manhattan, old, but very present, and scanned well.

Josep

Well seen and done Daniel, indeed an image without time, I also look at it as an amusing but worrying image of the daily life of our administrators (of our economy and life), compliments, beautiful symmetric composition and view of life in New York.

Hi Daniel,
Very well seen and captured. It's not usual to see such a careful compo in a street scene. It's a great "decisive moment".
Amazing sharpness and clarity for a scan.
TFS, Regards, José.

Hi, Daniel.
Indeed this is pure NY, the large sidewalks, the yellow cabs, the traffic... I specially like the compo, this is a great one, seems like a movie (or an advertisement) with people and cars in a hurry in the BG and the two men in slow-motion in the FG.
Well-done.

Hej Daniel,
Very good capture of these two men sitting on the stairs, having a break. It's very nice that you captured them from behind. The rest of the photo is also a great view of daily life, very well done!

So incredibly urban shot.
Can't help but think, that no longer ago than last summer I was sitting like that on the stairs in downtown Toronto , eating my hotdog, and the view I had in front of my eyes was exactly like the one these two guys have.
-------------------------------
BTW: The hotdogs in Toronto have NOTHING to do with the hotdogs in NEW York City.
Different world. Different planet.
Polish mafia conquered the Toronto's hotdog's vendors industry with their Polish sausages...
It's one billion dollars per year business since then...Some of the carts offer as many as eight kinds of sausages...Those Polish baaastards...LOLOLOL
Have a great WE, Daniel
