Autumn Road #2

Road to the Fern Lake Trail head .. Rocky Mountain National Park

Same road as Autumn Road #1 a little further down the road, 2 years later, and a bright sunny day.

This road is one of my favorite places to be the first weekend of October every year ... from this scene it winds .7 of a mile through a thick grove of aspens to the Fern Lake Trailhead ... The area is teeming with the resident herd of elk .. it is not uncommon to walk amongst them down this road.

By first snowfall the road closes and you must walk down it to get to the Fern Lake trail .. the one downer this time of year is motorists .. who either think they will be lucky enough to get one of the dozen spots down at the trail (so they don't have to come back to the bigger lot at the head of the road) .. or people photo-motoring down the road .. I don't know why they would rather drive it than walk it .. no matter what time of year it is one of my favorite walks .. but a special place in autumn.

Beautiful fall colors. You live in a very beautiful part of the globe with all the four seasons. i think the aspen & maple really make autumn very beautiful.

Great fall colors. Nice contrast between sun and shade, you did a nice job of handeling the shadows with out washing out the sunny areas. I like the way the eye is led through the photo by the road.

There's wonderful perspective in this shot. The image is nice and sharp and is well framed. But of course, it's the autumn colours against the blue sky which make this one a winner. Very nice work.

Hello John -

Very nice composition. I do like the road leading off and going out of sight - it adds a bit of mystery. Exposure right where it belongs. There looks to be a slight color cast in the shadows but it not distracting. Well done.
