Dream Lake Still

Dream Lake - Rocky Mountain National Park.

I told myself I wouldn't go back to a different view of the same place until after 10 photos .. I don't know why ... Probably to stop myself from having a gallery that is nothing but Dream Lake.

Dream lake is one of a group of lakes on the Bear lake trail system of Rocky Mountain National Park. The sits under Hallett peak (el. 12,713 ft. - 3875 meters).

It is rare to catch it still and reflecting like this in mid day .. typically the wind has kicked up by this time.

In the last shot of this lake it was a time when Andrew and I had the place to ourselves (because of the incoming storm) .. this time it was crawling with people .. made finding a POV and a pristine picture much more difficult .. in spite of the lake.

I would like to sit on the rocks for a while to enjoy this wonderful view with all other natural presents there, aromas, sounds and all the other things.

What a shot! Great composition, beautiful reflection, surreal location! To think I live so close to Colorado and have never seen such beauty in the United States!

Hi John,

Nice reflections on the water. You've seen it well and captured it even so. Good colours. I think the photo could have been a bit brighter on the trees on the other side of the lake, atleast I would have liked that. Maybe some autumn colours would be revealed. On the otherside you can choose to dim the highlights on the sky a bit, and the blueish haze on the mountain above.
Further it's nice work. Good POV and compo. The sharpness could be slightly better I think.

Great shot. I love the starkness of the mountains and the contrast with the beautiful lake. You did a good job keeping the glare down, which could have ruined this beautiful shot. Fantastic photo all around.

Nice shot, the snow patterns on the mountain and the reflection in the water are so eye catching. You are right this is like dream, the trees add so much interest and warmth to otherwise a clod image to me. I love it.... TFS

Shooting in a crowd and into the sun is always a challenge but for compenstaion you have that great reflection and the interaction of sunlight and shadows on the snow.
