Photographer's Note
Taken in Maine last summer, I love the fragility of this shot. Most of my work is rather 'gritty' and not so traditionally beautiful, but this leaf to me symbolises all that is beautiful and delicate with nature and the world around us.

I think it's an interesting choice to capture the Indian summer in B&W! beautiful, fragile indeed, subtile photo. Great details, good framing.

What happend to your usual contrast? This one looks much softer than your other shots.. maybe because of the coming spring ;-)
But I like it. The vien has wonderful pattern. The waterdrops and the white background creat a strange mood. Good shot, Carolyn.

Joli , une image intéressante comme le cadrage un peu particulier , le N&B est bien choisit .

Ok Carolyn, I will say like you : It is great to talk about (and to shot...) the nature. But we (me, little french) hope a lot about your NYC girl's point of vue, I mean your work "rather 'gritty'"... So, nature (and your sharp leaf) is a success. Very well done. X X X Mortimer.

Maine and New York are linked at many levels? Just as you show us New York, the soft side of Maine is also there nearby. For each piece of NY grit, there is a winding road, a tree or a stream. Just as the New York person finds themselves in Maine.
I also like the detail on the leaf, the softly diffused light, and the glint of moisture.
