Photographer's Note
This is another view of the fall colors in the aspens above Sundance Utah, behind Mount Timpanogos.
It was in the early morning, the sun was just coming up, and I could hear the bull elk bugling to each other across the mountain valleys behind me. The day was slightly overcast and the dew was rather heavy. The absolute stillness of the morning was overwhelming. It was almost a sin to leave this wonderful environment and go to work.
Taken with f/22 for maximum depth at the widest focal length I could get (I could have used the 10mm-20mm). I metered off of the aspens and placed them at zone 6 to keep lots of detail in the white part of the aspens. I also used a didymium filter to boost the reds in the ferns slightly. The 190k image here doesn't really do it justice.

Indeed beautiful. Excellent autumn colors to remind us of the present season. The hike to this place must be very enjoyable at this time of the year. You manage to capture this scene with good light and details. The saturation of colors and the whole perspective of the place gave you a truly amazing shot. I enjoy this type of scenery :-)

Hi Robert,
I can understand your frustration in having to reduce a shot like this in less than 200K! Anyway the result is pretty good in terms of tonality and dynamic range. I am just a little puzzled about the necessity to choose such a closed aperture, given that, in my experience with a 17-85 Canon Lens, it actually produces a noticeble grade of diffraction blurring. Congratulations and thanks for posting, Dario

Hi Robert. You have a distinct advantage over us here in that you have the wonderful fall colour in abundance. We have no native deciduous trees so it’s just what we find in parks and on the roadside. You have handled the exposure well and have captured some excellent fall colour in the trees. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi Robert,
A scenery like this shout for a large format camera....why not used it?
The F22 is for this lens maybe not the right choice, most if the times this cheaper lenses get there maximum sharpness from F8 tot F13, any higher would lead to softness. But saying this technical crap...you photo is great. I would love to take such images and live in a surrounding like you show us here. Just got home from Utah, but fall colors were not there....yet. Now they are it seems.
Composition and color is perfect.
The picture is truly a beauty...i like it alot.
Regards, Henk
