Provo Peak, a photo from Utah, West

Photographer's Note

This is a view of Provo Peak taken from the Squaw Peak Trail east of Provo, Utah. It was taken from the road overlook down into Rock Canyon (what many refer to as the 'sound of music' spot, ~7,500' above sea level).

Provo Peak stands at 11,068' above sea level and is one of the more prominant peaks in the Wasatch Range. It sits at the south end of Cascade Mountain ridge line.

I used f/22 to extend the depth of field to capture the trees in the near foreground (about 2 miles away from the mountain peak). The sun was dropping (you can see the shadows forming from the 'Y' mountain at the bottom of the peak near rattlesnake pass) and it was a very beautiful, quiet moment.

very nice landscape, colors are wonderful. I can see here colors representing three seasons : the green of summer, the red of fall and the white of winter. It's beautiful!

I really like your composition here Robert. The range of color you have managed to fit into the scene looks nice. The contrast between the leaves in shadow, and the ones in direct sunlight makes the photo very interesting. Exposure looks great all around.
