Photographer's Note
This is a shot of the firework celebration at the end of my local town's summer celebration, Fiesta Days. Fiesta Days was started after the town was founded in the 1850's and continues this day with parades, carnivals, and a pretty good rodeo. The event culminates with a firework display at the city's softball park.
This year it was rather windy/stormy and the firework display didn't last very long before the storms and wind blew in.
Shot off of a tripod in manual mode...I had to experiment a bit to get a feel for what a 'good' exposure would be for the time that a firework explosion would 'hang' in the air.

fireworks are really tough. i like how you have the trail leading up to the explosion. it would have been cool if you included some of the town/people in the picture somehow-- showing the interaction between the townsmen and the fireworks

You cannot resist can you Mr. Robert, showing your high status and cultural rank by rubbing in our faces the arogance of lighting money on-fire for personal joy. How many starving children could those works-of-fire feed?
