Photographer's Note

This is the Porsche RS Spyder, clad in the colors of Penske Racing. This particular car, driven by Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas, was unable to finish the American Le Mans race at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. They failed at the end with a broken throttle linkage. The sister car lost by 0.314 seconds to the Audi R10 TDI piloted by Emanuele Pirro in a fantastic finish.

It was amazing to see these drivers consistantly hit the same braking points as well as the corner exit/entrance points over the course of a 2.75 hour race.

Captured using shutter priority while panning using a mono-pod. The car is just starting to brake after the long 3500 foot straight and is traveling about 200 mph at this point. It was kind of a trade off to pick a high enough shutter speed to allow for some 'movement' in the background, yet keep the car sharp. The auto-focusing on this fantastic lens worked flawlessly...absolutely amazing. This has to be one of the finest lenses of it's type. It is a WONDERFUL lens. It is so fantastic to shoot with that I almost have to take a shower when I'm done. It is a GREAT lens.
