Photographer's Note
Near Cambria on the wild Californian coast lie many abandoned old farms. All that remains of the hopes and dreams of this rancher is a clump of shade trees and a windmill. These little windmills were modest affairs that ensured that early homesteaders had a constant water supply for themselves and their livestock. The wind turns the slats, moving the wheel, which then turns a shaft and gears that power machinery. The machinery pumps water from the ground and into a tank.
Although the dreams of this pioneer have long ago dissolved into dust, nature's riot of colourful growth blanketing the old farm now provides a sanctuary for small animals and joy to the traveller...

Hello John,
Excellent photo! The first thing that attracts one's attention is the yellow and green grass. Excellent composition in that I like that you included the windmill - it really completes the overall effectiveness of the photo.

Serwus John !
Ahh, i see we have correspondence duel on fields - joy vs. anger :) Your fields are wonderful against the blue of the background, shown in delightful light and with interesting machine that reminds us about the past of the place.
I see You're going to Europe. What about considering a trip to Poland ? It's easy to find a favourable schedule from, let's say, London. I remember our chat in July last year .. :)
Have a sunny weather during Your trip,

I particularly like the many shades of yellow and green present in this shot which provide superb contrast against the sea and sky. Well composed as always with the tree on the left and even interest on the right hand side of the shot with the windmill.
Nice work.

Hello John, this is a wonderfully bright scene with the most beautiful yellow colour. It would indeed fill me with joy to be there. I have added this picture to the "Song Titles" theme. Is this where you had the inspiration for the title? Lenny Kravitz from the Mama Said album - it's one of the best.

Hi John,
You've have captured, with impeccable detail and light, many beautiful layers: the glowing field with the windmill, the tight clump of trees that give the impression of one big tree, the soft curve of the field against the turquoise sea, a small wave, and the wonderful clouds in the perfect blue sky. It's a favorite for me. I see you passed this area about a month after I did. Have a nice trip, a month is a nice amount of time.

Thanks to this pic, I just discovered you gallery, which is really really good.
Here, I thinks the move of wind in the grass, in the branches of the three is very interesting, it bring some life in a landscape that could have been sadest without. Colors are well done too, very natural.

Hi John,
What an amazing attractive yellow field! It jumps out of my screen and make me hipnotised, with its fascinating strong yellow tones, combined in a wonderful painting. Everything else works well with it and enhance this beautiful landscape. I love the thin stripe of sea and that old windmill, which remind me some similar ones that exist not far from my place (its shape is interesting for some close up shots...). It's a magnificent photo!
I wish you a good trip to UK.

Hi John
The scenery is lovely thanks to the beautiful sharp yellow grass. It contrasts well against the tree, sea and sky. Good idea balancing the image with the windmill. However it distracts me that the top part is right in front of the rock as it takes away wome of the harmony.

Hi John, first of all: have a nice time in the UK (and don't forget your cam (as if that was possible;-)). Good balanced shot here and interesting note. The windmill does seem rather small to me; I visualise them bigger (probably due to film and tv?). The colour of the grass (or is it blossoms?) is very striking; is it always like that? Very nice and have fun.

Nice shot John! As usual, your composition is great, with the scene well balanced between the near and far, and the wind wheel & tree balancing each other too.

Well John with the small windmill on the right and the windworn tree on the left, you have managed to balance the two elements in this scene. I also like how the sea remains level and the land slopes down the left....that really adds to the interest in the frame. A very nice one John!

To stay here and be in silence is a best work that i can do now !
but my eyes goes there and here in this view for absorbtion of the beauty and colors and contrat and...Atmosphere !
to feel the atmosphere of a shot is very important for me,to underestand it,to imagine about to be there in the shot !
this depends to photographer and the way he/she work and compose and create a picture,a shot can pull a soul inside of itself very well because of the photographer who create that,...ah,John,most of the time,it hard to say about my feeling in english, and I have to say with some simple words, but I know You know what that I say about,...

Bonsoir John,

Hi John,
Colours are great here -- I like the combination of yellow and dark gray/blue of the sky very much. On the other hand I'm not fully satisfied with composition this time. The little windmill on the right is too small to balance the big tree on the left. Moreover its legs blend with background.
Thanks,

John, I very much like scenes like this - something that inspires a sense of either peace or awe in a landscape is ideal. Here, I think it's the former. A photo that conveys a sense of wanting to be there, about what it's like, through the use of one small box. Here the pitch of the trees, the existence of the windmill, the white wave convey a scene in my mind that goes beyond 2 dimensions. These factors project the rustling through the grass and flowers, the sunshine and sea breeze in your face. It's an excellent piece of work for managing to pull that off.
