Photographer's Note

It has been a dry year in Oklahoma, and for a rain lover such as myself that is sad news indeed. Monday night we finally got some more much needed rain (at the expense of an airport about 30 miles southwest of here that was destroyed by a tornado), so I decided to redeem the opportunity by taking some pictures. I didn't make it out of my backyard due to the risk of severe weather, but there were a few good opportunities that presented themselves for me there. Here, rain drips from a swingset support bar, while the long exposure necessitated by the dark conditions (1/8 at ISO 1600) allows the background raindrops to be seen as a line rather than a point. The picture was somewhat handheld, although I did have the camera propped against a vertical surface.
