Photographer's Note

Sears Tower rising above the fog.

Sometimes, Chicago is blanketed by fog and when this happens, those who live in highrises have to sometimes call downstairs to check what the weather is down below. This is one of those days.

Photograph was taken from the 94th floor of the Hancock Tower which is probably a mile or two miles away from Sears - using the zoom lens of the Fuji 2400 Z (in low resolution). Photograph was then converted to gray scale, and cleaned with the dust and scratches tool in photoshop (to reduce graininess), then sharpened (unsharp mask) and framed. The color version is also nice but I thought the black and white is better and adds an ethereal quality to the building.

BTW, I learned reduction of grain and noises here in TE. dsidwell pointed out to me for my photo yesterday that if I had somekind of noise reduction tool, I should use it to improve my telephoto and dark shots. So I explored Photoshop and found the two tools to use - despeckle and dust and scratches filters.
