Photographer's Note
The Four Elements is a 16-foot-tall stainless steel sculpture by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa. It was commissioned by the DeVos family. The 2,450-kg sculpture uses letters and element symbols for air, water, fire and earth forming a human figure. The sculpture alludes to “the many different characteristics that bring people together to form a single human race,” according to a news release.
That weekend was one of commencement ceremonies in Grands Rapids. Calvin University had just had its on Saturday and here we see a graduate of a downtown university having his photo taken in front of this 2021 addition to the city.

Hi Murat,
It is a trendy type of sculpture. I have a similar one near where I live but it has the shape of the bottle:

But I think there is one very popular in Barcelona which I didn't see.
Nice scene here, the addition of the graduate posing there adds a nice touch. Also the photographer bends nicely.
Very well seen and captured,
M

Hello Murat,
Plensa's statues seem to be found everywhere, even in a few places in Stockholm, and this one is immensely more entertaining than the traditional statue in the WS. The two men make this photo immensely more entertaining than it would have been without them.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Murat,
A great photo of this wonderful artwork, which can easily be recognised as a work by Plensa. It stands out well from the dark grey tones of the building as well. Excellent timing too to get the proud graduate in the foreground having his picture taken.

Hello Murat, the student in his colourful robes is an eye-catcher with the very interesting steel sculpture behind him.
It is a fantastic and imaginative piece of sculpture.
The photographer completes the scene and is the reason for the student sitting where he does.
Kind regards, Jean.

I saw a sculpture of this artist before, looks it is a long series as many artists do with repetitive patters creating a brand of design.
I liked your image using well the personages interacting with the sculpture. nice the WS too.
take care

Hello Murat,
Plensa's work is recognizable right away. There is a version here in NYC in Hudson Yards. I've seen others around the world in photos here on TE. Nice capture of this sculpture and the graduate posing in front. Take care!
