Photographer's Note

Oh yes, it finally happened... Friday evening, as I was uploading an image to TE, I had a disc crash and lost all my digital photos. Did I have any back-ups? No, I did not. My only hope is in one of those data recovery services. I've located one in Pittsburgh and I mean to take my external hard drive there some time this week. I've been so depressed that I haven't even visited the TE site until now. But slowly, I'm coming to terms with it; if the data can be recovered, I'll be thankful, if not, I'll start all over again. In the mean time, I'd better find a way to back up reliably.

On the internal hard drive, I discovered a folder into which I had uploaded photos from my first cell phone. Today, I'm uploading a photo I took of an RTV (rough terrain vehicle) ambulance I had seen at Balloon Quest 2010. I decided on this one to signify the fact that my external hard drive, hence my entire digital photo collection, needs emergency services.

Oh evet, nihayet oldu ... Cuma akşamı, ben TE'ye bir görüntü yüklerken, bir disk çökmesi oldu ve bütün dijital fotoğraflarımı kaybettim. Pekiyi, hiçbir bir yedeğim var mıydı? Hayır, yoktu. Tek umudum, bu veri kurtarma hizmetlerinden biri . Pittsburgh'te bir tane buldum ve bu hafta bir zaman oraya harici diskimi götürmeyi amaçlıyorum. Ben o kadar depresif oldum ki şu ana kadar TE sitesini bile ziyaret etmedim. Ama yavaş yavaş, olanı kabul ediyourum; data elde edilebilirse müteşekkir olacağım, yoksa yeni baştan başlayacağım. Bu arada, ben güvenilir yedekleme için bir yol bulmalıyım.

Dahili sabit diskte, benim ilk cep telefonundan fotoğrafları yüklediğim bir dosya keşfettim. Bugün, Balon Arayışı 2010'da gördüğüm bir ZAA (zorlu arazi aracı) ambulansın bir fotoğrafını yüklüyorum. Benim harici sabit diskin, dolayısıyla benim tüm dijital fotoğraf koleksiyonumun, acil servise ihtiyacı olduğu gerçeğini belirtmek için bu fotoğrafa karar verdim.

Hello Murat,

What an awful story! I had an communicate that something is wrong with my disc and advice to copy the entire content. I didn't risk losing my pictures, many thousands of them, quickly made copy. Uff. in my case it is OK. I hope that with yours it also will be OK. Good choice of picture for this unpleasant situation.

Hello Murat,
what a pity your disc crashed and lost all of your digital photos.I always use two external disc to minimize the 'accidents'.A good contribution to your crash disk is this one with the cars.A good parallelism photo a meaning.

Hello Murat,
Disc crashes are often recoverable, so fingers crossed. Unfortunately, you never know when they may happen, so its always best to have at least one back up. Least said, soonest mended.

I know what you now feeling, I have a harddisc let fall but in a good labo you can get back for 70%, but very expensive.
It is very difficult no make a backup
Perspective and depth are wonderful.
Clarity and sharpness and colours are perfect.
Presentation and composition make your picture attractive.

Hello my friend Murat.
Now that's terrible, that data is lost when today we have everything on the computer, I've had a shock, though not dramatic, now ground to a complete copy of the hard disk, an external one and I keep pictures in another one, because for me, the most valuable are the photos of my travel memories alive ....
The image comes in handy to highlight the accident, the ambulance which in this case is not one that can repair the disk, nice sun light with the end of the afternoon.

I'm very sorry about what happened and understand how you feel. I'm sure you shouldn't abandon hope, though, and hope that you will soon have all your photos back. In the meantime, keep taking new ones. The sight of the ambulances is somewhat unsettling but the atmosphere in your picture is tranquil and the sunshine delightful and heart-warming. Merhaba Murat ,

çok geçmiş olsun en çok korktuğum konulardan biri başına gelmiş. Ben 3 ayrı disk te yedekleme yapıyorum. başka çaresini bulamadım. Ancak telefon ve ufak tefek resimler için onedirve ı kullanıyorum. planım biraz daha makul yerlere fiyatları geldiğinde bu resimleri birde orada saklamak olacak. tekrar geçmiş olsun. bende kurtarırlkar senin fotografları.

That's nasty experience you have had, usually i will backup to 1 internal and 2 external hard drives just making sure...
but your data can till be recovered. That's decent record shot at least to keep your momentum & spirit.

Hi Murat,

I am missing a little sharpness but not as much as you are missing your disc. I recently backed up all my available memory cards and lots of mp3's to a portable hard drive that stores 2/3 the size of my laptop hard drive. Worth considering as a solution. It's full now though. Might have to buy a second and split the music and photos. Tfs!
