Albert and Bessie Johnson, friends of Walter Scott-the infamous "Death Valley Scotty"-begin building their Death Vally Ranch, now called Scotty's Castle.
Tourism begins in Death Vally as the Furnace Creek Inn and the resort at Stovepipe Wells are built.
