Photographer's Note

Ex-president George Bush Jr. once said in a press conference, "Alternate sources of energy someday might be viable. In the meantime we have to rely on oil."

The American West has relied on wind power to bring water trapped below the surface to the top for over a century and a half.

This windmill and elderly Cottonwood tree are near the Rio Grande River in Albuquerque, part of the Botantical Garden.
