Photographer's Note
Our visit to this spectacular place was all that I had heard and read about it. The water color is exactly as you see it here - the deepest blue I have ever seen. There are many photogenic vistas so this is only one of many that I took. The weather was perfect and the landscape out of this world.
Crater Lake - Like No Place Else on Earth
Crater Lake has inspired people for hundreds of years. No place else on earth combines a deep, pure lake, so blue in color; sheer surrounding cliffs, almost two thousand feet high; two picturesque islands; and a violent volcanic past. It is a place of immeasurable beauty, and an outstanding outdoor laboratory and classroom.
Crater Lake is located in Southern Oregon on the crest of the Cascade Mountain range, 100 miles (160 km) east of the Pacific Ocean. It lies inside a caldera, or volcanic basin, created when the 12,000 foot (3,660 meter) high Mount Mazama collapsed 7,700 years ago following a large eruption.
Generous amounts of winter snow, averaging 533 inches (1,354 cm) per year, supply the lake with water. There are no inlets or outlets to the lake. Crater Lake, at 1,943 feet (592 meters) deep, is the seventh deepest lake in the world and the deepest in the United States. Evaporation and seepage prevent the lake from becoming any deeper.

Hi Gerald
Very nice overlooking pov, the grade in the sky due to the combination pola + wide angle is bit strong to my taste
Have a nice day JY

Classic view of Crater Lake; classic views are just that for a very good reason. Until you see the colour for yourself it is difficult to believe the strength of the blue. Excellent shot of a great location.

Hello Gerald,

Compliments.
Daniel.

Classic and well composed view of the lake with Wizard Island.
This reminds me once again I need to make a pilgrimage to this lake. I have never photographed it in digital before.
Here is a view of the lake taken by my son last winter that you might enjoy:

Hello Gerald,
Your composition is brilliant, the inclusion of the tree of right-hand side is well seen. The remainder was provided to you by this really exceptional site. You made a restitution of the colors, remarkable. Congratulations.
Have a nice day.
Cordially.

Hi, Gerald -
As Jean-Yves says, a bit heavy on the polarizer for the sky, though the lake really is that blue. Great use of the tree on the right and the diagonal slope on the left as framing.
Best,
Dan

Hello Gerald,
They are very interesting and amazing lakes that are formed in the craters of volcanoes, and in this, even more curious that the island formed within.
Excellent perspective and the intense blues that give good color contrast.
Best wishes,
Charo

Hi Gerald,
Ahh, this brings back so much wonderful memories of this trip for me. You are so fortunate to have such a wonderful clear day to really bring out the deep blue of the lake. Beautiful rich color and lovely composition the on the foreground gives so much depth, however I would have like to see more of it. the lake looks a bit flat and no ripple pattern, perhaps it's areally calm day. Sharpness is a bit soft. But over all quality is good.
