Photographer's Note
That what make the particular geology of Antelope canyon: Rock eroded by wind and water in a so particular design. Result is a lot of sand.
This sandfall isn't natural, I provocate it with the help of my wife who throw sand just before i take the photo. With a one second exposure, the blurred effect on falling sand easily work. A bit of pp, particulary on white balance who was wrong and it's done.
I met a woman photograph of my group who find the idea funny and made the picture too with a monopod.
If you recognize, email me...
I hope everyone enjoy here, and if you got an idea to enbeauty this picture, tell me.

Bonjour Alexis!
Amicalement

Hi Alexis,
Wow, what a cool effect! Awesome idea! On the thumbnail it almost looked like water coming down... but if it had been water, I think you would have left as quickly as possible without taking pictures. ;o)
Thanks for sharing and all the best for 2009,
Claudia

Hello Alexis! A little help never hurts, in fact it gave a great effect on your picture. I hope the sand stopped after a while :))) Sometimes we do that with snow and I am always a little scared that we make an avalanche. Yeah maybe the woman found your photo. I have a picture here on TE and I was writing about an author in my note and some days later I had a comment on my picture from him, this was just too much. He had opened an account to get in touch with me (in fact we still are) ... So, you never know, the internet is wide open ... Great picture, I like it a lot. Happy New Year to you ... Barbara.

Hi Alexis,
I love sandfalls and dancing light images from these canyons. Nice graphism here and I to my eye it looks like you've gotten the WB spot on.
Cheers!

Hello alexis,
first of all I have a question, "Are these pictoglyphs that we see on the wall to the left of the falling sand?" The idea of alowing the sand to fall is an excellent idea, and it worked well in your image. A different strategy to capture the Antelope Canyon.

Hello Alexis
I have seen quite a few pictures of the Canyon, but none like this, where the sand falls like a waterfall. Reading your note, I can only admire your ingenuity in 'creating’ or ‘making' this shot, when most photographers would have been happy taking the static beauty. The addition of the dynamic element of the cascading sand with the play of light & slow shutter speed on the flow, definitely adds an excellent dimension to this picture. This is where a fine idea has resulted in excellent originality in this picture of the place which has been shown by others in the static state of being. I applaud you for that. Excellent work!
Wishing you & your family the very best for 2009
Regards
Angshu

Alexis,
Fantastic shot with the sand flowdow like water, Really beautiful color of the red and wonderful details and Texture of the canyon. Perfect exposure for this silk like quality of the sandfalls. I don't it's a word but since it not a waterfalls, it's a sandfalls to me. Simply wonderful. Thanks

Hi, Alexis.
Pretty good one, the idea of having artificial "sandfalls" is excellent, as long as you manage to keep your camera as far as you possibly can from them... In August 2007 I had my Sony TOTALLY screwed by the Navajo guides throwing sand up in the air to "enhance" those lightbeams, and it took me months of aggravation before I finally had my camera back & properly working here in Amsterdam. Having said that : you did a good job under the circumstances which are always far from easy in this marvelous slot canyon. Marvelous but overly dusty and full of people... Have a nice evening, I'll be seeing you.
Fulvio.

Hello Alexis,
I've missed this one...pity. It's a great pic and a very good idea, original for sure, different from all the usual pics took in Antelope Canyon.
Well done!

Hi Alexis,
OK, Antelope Canyon is clearly a highly photogenic place where it is difficult to go wrong with your photos (four pages on TE) - but this is the outstanding shot of those four pages. Solving the old photographer's problem of how to do something different and original with a place that gets shot thousands of times a day.
Nice one,
Iain
