Photographer's Note
The Yellowstone national park is a volcanic caldera. This shot was taken in the Mammoth Hot Springs area. As hot water rises through limestone, large quantities of rock are dissolved by the hot water and a white chalky mineral is deposited on the surface. I looked at this and thought to myself is this our dear old EARTH?

It is impressive to see how desolate those volcanic hot springs can be. I have seen similar things in New Zealand. The blue sky, contrasts very well with the orange colour on the foreground and the trees kelp to the composition. Well done.

Hi Shaeri,
It reminds me a lot of Rotorua in New Zealand. I like this combination of sulfuric colours, the oranges and yellows bring brightness to the scene. I like how the occasional tree breaks up the continuity of the scene without blocking the main interest too much. The colours are beautiful and the sharpness is OK also. There is a little bit of pixilation in the sky, seen in the darker sections but I trust it is only from compression. A great angle of this thermal site.

Hello Shaeri,
An impressive landscape, like on another planet, were life seems almost impossible! Colors are well contrasted and details are sharp. The dead trees add to the atmosphere!

Hi Shaeri
I love all of these old trees that help make this landscape look out of this world. Yellowstone is truly a special place. TFS.

Hi Shaeri, good contrast of colours in this one, the deep orange and the deep blue make a great combination, there is also a contrast between dead an alive elements, good work. Just one little thing, maybe it would have been better if you don´t cut the top of the tree on the right. Chau chau,
Maria

Hi Shaeri
Great colors and textures from such bright day in this capture. YNP has a lot of attractions including the Old Faithful which I visited many years ago. The thermal waters of warm temperature all year round give rise to some nice colors and vegetation, with mineral deposits and sulfur.
Just a thought, I wonder how it will look like if the tree branch is not in the way here.
YNP is a place where you really like to spend more time hanging around to see more of its beauty. I spent a night camping there, but the long walks around (without a car) can be very tiring.
Nice work. TFS

Hi Shaeri,
Perfect tones and lights..
The feel of a scene from a classic movie.
I think, you can make a theme of the park with the shots you have, and that would be a great journey for us to watch and learn.
This is well composed with the dry trees, the smiling clouds...and the lovely blue sky... Even though all these elements have different moods, they blend to make a great shot.
All the best, dear friend.

Hi Shaeri, beautiful colour seen in this shot with that great blue sky and the iron oxide on the ground. Those dead trees and the steam seen in the shot really add to the atmosphere of this place. Great exposure giving us great depth of field to survey the whole area. Very nicely done. This becomes another place I'd like to get to some day.
Thanks, John

Hi Shaeri, how are you? great photo. What I like is the combination of the yello on the ground with the blue sky, nice contrast. The dead trees (I'm assuming they are dead) add to the photo some form of "life" that goes very good with the kind of terrain and landscape that they are.
Very good photo!!

The first view I had of this shot near prompted me to say a curse word. Or two. Come to think of it, it's still hard to find a different word to begin. How about? Daaayum... What a view! What light! What Color!! I LOVE the starkness of the trees and the perrfect sharpness. I would feel blessed to witness such a scene and far more blessed to have captured it so beautifully. Many thanks and warmest regards,

hello shaeri
a wonderful geological insight. the place does seem mysterious and in a sense "out of this world'ly". but only in a sense, since it definitely is our old, dear earth. just a place we, humans, don't frequent so much ;)
i like the colors, the detail and the light in this one. just not sure about those three trees. seems a bit "busy" with those. my very personal feeling: hmm, maybe just one of these trees would be sufficient in the composition. could go even very wide angle on it. just pondering :)
my compliments and TFS

The colours are strong & 'angry' tones, as if some painter in his fit of angt has splattered paint all over...contrast that with the clear cool blue of the sky. Impressive place & a good shot!

I've been looking through your Yellowstone images as we will be visiting in September. This is an amazing scenery; as you say it doesn't look like our planet. I'm struck by the dead trees; not that they are dead but they ever grew there in this inhospitable land in the first place. Good work on the technical side too.
