Photographer's Note
This is a shot taken in Bryce Canyon National Park. Another American National Park that i've been wanting to visit for a long time now.
We were so lucky to have had a snow storm the night before we arrived, the snow made everything so much more beautiful.
Between the two Parks, Zion & Bryce Canyon, there's more variations of nature in Zion, while Bryce Canyon is basically one large Canyon, & colder due to its higher elevation.
When we were in Zion, it was anywhere between -5 to +5 Degrees. In Bryce Canyon it was -20 Degrees!!!!!
However, that didn't stop me from hiking and enjoying the sun and snow. This shot was taken on a tremendous hike through the Canyon, and this rock face is incredibly huge! Even my wide angle at 8mm had a hard time fitting it inside the frame.
The good thing about the cold weather was the fact we basically had the entire hike to ourselves. Its a very strange feeling to be so alone in such a large park. We came across many people taking photos at viewpoints (accessed by car), but not many people at all hiking down inside the Canyon's floor like we did.
I'll post several more shots from both Zion and Bryce. Hope you like this one.

Hello Craig,
A spectacular close up of this red rocky crag, which contrasts well against the grey blue sky. Good sharpness and the snow enhances the graphism. Tfs!

Bonjour Craig
Une photo qui ressort dans la galerie. Quel magnifique falaise aux couleurs d'or qui se distingue sur fond de ciel très texturé. Une photo que l'on est fier d'avoir pris.

Hello Craig,
Wouldn't it have been great to see a lady in red somewhere on that steep slope?
Just joking. I'm not such a fundamentalist that I want to have people in the wilderness. It's only streets and squares made for people that could look dull if they're totally empty.
This is a very impressive rock. I get an impression of a huge Gothic cathedral rising high above the surroundings. The fresh snow stuck in patches here and there adds a fine element. How long was that trek? Walking for several hours in -20 degrees could be getting nasty after a while
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Craig,
This giant rock reminded me the Rock at Perce', but not out to the ocean, yet it stands in a vast park location inland. Amazing sight, stunning nature.
Super contrast and sharpness, a well lit scene.
Have a nice new day,

Hello Craig,
everything seemed right that day you hiked in Bryce Canyon, the right amount of snow, the right light, the right sky. Then you came with the right lens and the right eye to make the most of the landscape and the lighting conditions. I like the suggestive dynamism of this scene, the sky contributes to it too, The effects of selective lighting and atmospheric shadows work excellently too, adding so much to the textures. The colours have exquisite quality too. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
Ourania

Hi Craig,
I can only guess that this wall is massive, correct proportions are rather hard to guess.
Light is beautiful and texture of that rock is very special. It looks more like a pile of clay that could just melt away together with the snow next spring.

Hello Craig,
Your camera struggled to contain it all, so did my eyes. It is an amazing spectacle of jagged and eroded rock which even the clouds seem to be celebrating!
The snow was useful in defining the notches and ledges as well as giving quite a stark contrast with the rock's amber hues/
This looks like something from Conan Doyle's 'Lost World'!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello craig,
Indeed, the bryce is rather a small NP, maybe the smallest one, but so beautiful. And it looks fantastic with snow. You were lucky that you had sun, the frost is then very nice, even I like snow and sun. Zion seemed to me less interesting, and there are fantastic places all around not in National Park. All Utah is amazing. Stunning composition.

Wow! Great shot, Craig. It looks like a decoration for any fantasy or adventure movie. And this rock structure reminds me a jawbone. I can't see your point of view, but this is spectacular landscape. Best wishes! I am packing my suitcase today. ;) Serghei

Hello Craig,
The snow indeed adds a good contrast with the redbrown rocks.
With - 20° degrees you better don't stop walking. You have to continue to keep warm.
This national park doesn't look like a good place for parachutists to land :)
Best regards, Paul
