Photographer's Note

Cedar Breaks is a fun place to visit and as I have said in my comments before, a difficult place to photograph. One of the reasons it is difficult to photograph is it's elevation, when shooting late in the day, when shadows and light are more optimal, the contrast is very high, because of the very clear air. Open sky is quite cyan, and open shadows are contrasty and dense.

This is a fun formation, with the shadow being the majority of the construction of the composition. With only carefully layered parts produding into the sunlight.

I exposed to keep the higher values a bit down from blowing out the highlights, letting the shadows fall down close to the bottom of the curve.

Very little post processing was done short of cropping and sizing.
