Photographer's Note
Horsetail Falls lies directly on the Old Columbia River Historic highway on the Oregon side of the Gorge. I have found that this falls is one of the hardest to capture due that the light is always either behind the ridgeline or in your face near sunset and so far away in the summer that the light does not lend itself to the scene. In this scene you will see the shadow cast from the fallen tree across the opening of the treeline. In certain scenes as this, it may not be the waterfall that is the most important, but its surroundings once you allow a slice of the falls to be seen.
Happy New Year to All...

Hi Steven,
Seem not easy to manage the bright sky, it is a good idea to make it in B & W version, anyway I like the waterfall and trees on the cliff, thanks for sharing a lovely nature view.

Howdy Steve,
I am attracted to your monochrome vision, the surrounding forest and fauna blends nicely with the tapered falls, and can appreciate the difficulty of severe lighting contrasts.
I suspect we have more waterfalls in America named "Horsetail" than any other. One of the great horsetail falls in California is in the Tahoe wilderness accessible from Hwy 50 via a very steep hiking climb.
Good job,
Sincerely,
Ray

Hi Steve,
I have not seen this fall while I was up there few years ago, so it is great to see you posted it here. Black and white is always a classic way to present.
Good POV and composition, light is a bit tricky with so much dark and light, but you did well.

A very interesting and well done photo subject for B/W. The overall shape and composition is very good. The upper trees seem to lean well into the falls. Being B/W there is no color distraction and this all elements of the scene have equal strength. I am not sure I have visited your gallery before ... thus I need to explore it. Nice artistic work here. TFS
