Photographer's Note
Volcanic Sculptures
Some more impressions from Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve in southern Idaho, including two photos in the WS (#1 and #2) as well. All three photos were taken at the first stop along the Loop Road that leads through the accessible part of the park, where I also took this photo. The main photo shows three cinder cones along the North Crater Flow Trail.

It has ben awhile since I visited this site - great capture of these funnels. A unique place to explore. The Canary Islands also show almost this same feature and quite extensively - Idaho is an interesting state to explore. Great Photo

Bonjour, cher Lars,
C'est toujours étonnant de voir ā travers ces laves volcaniques l'émergence d'une végétation qui semble apprécier la nature du sol.
La photo principale invite ā découvrir les miracles de la nature en édifiant ces sculptures naturelles.
Amitiés.

Hello Lars, Interesting volcanic sculptures. The view similar to near Teide, in Tenerife. Fascinating but unfriendly landscape.

Hej Lars,
Gert

Hello Lars,
For once, the moon landscape doesn't seem to apply as there is evidence of grass, but you have still shown us a very unusual, a very different landscape, with your normal clarity and good composition.
Those elevated lumps look ugly, a bit like decayed, giant's teeth!
I don't suppose you saw any toothless giants!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Lars, that almost mineral landscape where few vegetation succeeds in growing consists in solidified lava. The erosion created amazing sculptures interesting to observe. Fine colors, good sharpness, instructive photo note, regards.

Hello Lars,
Interesting looking natural sculptures, I wonder if anyone will have the idea of turning these into man-made sculptures like they did in Mount Rushmore. I love the photo of le lone tree. 👍🏻👍🏻

Hi Lars
interesting to see the large single tree, he must be lonely.
the way you describe the Park, it sounds easily accessible and easy to drive around, but are you allowed to walk around on the landscape or is it forbidden? excellent details and rough looking rocks, if you can call them rocks. Very similar to many Rural Icelandic views. cheers

Hi Lars,
amazing volcanic structures!
I like very much this type of landscape.
It is may be not the beautiful sight but it is so different from all I am used to that it really is a very interesting experience every time I see it.
Great rock formations here, well selected and presented.
Fantastic reportage, and again I learned something new about this less popular state,

Hello Lars,
Red volcanic rocks with an imaginary look as three big bears stood upon the landscape.
Red and brown texture with a touch of green weed.
Nice series from the unique place.
Good afternoon,

Dag Lars,
I took a few shots of the lava fields south of Ararat Volcano in eastern Turkey but was not satisfied with any of them. You have done better by finding some rock outcrops thrusting up into the sky. Good sharpness too. Tfs!

Hi Lars.
Spectacular these capricious volcanic lava formations, with their brown and reddish tones, some green bushes put another touch of color, these rocks remind me of others very similar in the Teide area in Tenerife.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent sharpness.
Well done I love.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Lars, I wonder how long it has taken for the trees and shrubs to begin to colonise this landscape? it is quite remarkable that anything can grow here.
The volcanic material must be resistant to weathering I would have thought?
This is an excellent shot where the texture of the cinder cones is very clear.
Thanks for sharing, Regards, Jean.

Dag Lars,
Ondanks de woeste lava creaties en de zwarte grond kan je op veel plaatsen zien dat lava in principe vruchtbare grond is. De planten die wortelen zullen de erosie verder versnelling.
Mooie foto selectie.
groet Rob
