Photographer's Note
I took this photo looking south to Lanai City. The mountain, called Lanaihale (or "The Hale" by residents), in the background is the island of Lanai's highest peak, 3,400 ft. "Hale" is the Hawaiian word for "house," so the literal translation is "Lanai House." The road is really that red due to the high iron content in Hawaii's volcanic dirt. Lanai City, the blur of white towards the center right, has a population of about 2,800.
EDIT: I have reposted a larger version of this photo. Please see "Original Version" for the smaller version.

The bright, sharp colors in the foreground compliment the haze in the background. It makes for a dream-like or storybook setting. Beautiful job! -Lara

Hi Anne
I like the diminishing linear perspective & depth added by the red dirt road & its' colour opposition with the blue sky. Congratulations!

You have a great image here, with the road taking you into the image, and keeping the horizon from being dead center. I would wonder if there was a little more detail to be had in some of the shadow, might go with the luminance of the sky and the scene in general.
And I thought here in Utah we had red dirt!!! Wow...
Thanks

Don't you just love it when the light allows you to take such marvelous pictures? There are so many elements of this picture I like - The color of the road, the way the light makes the clouds look iridescent, the warmth of the light on the grass on the left, the way you've composed the picture - the red road receding.
It could have been a bit more focused, but... well done!

Very nice, "Anney" -- nice use of the path to draw the eye in, well saturated, rich colors, good use of light and shadow, and that soft mountain background. I don't know if your choice of depth of field here was deliberate or not, but the softness definitely creates a charming mood for this photo.
