but I think a dark area in corner of photo is undesirable

Great sunset photo Anne! Very well composed (allthough I think that the positioning of the fisherman a little bit to the left part of the picture would give even better result). Of course it's exactly this point, the presence of the lonely man, the most powerful element of the picture.
