Photographer's Note

After spending five days in San Antonio with our son and daughter-in-law, we took a flight to Denver and picked up a rental car.

I was about to fulfill a "boyhood dream" of driving across the States, or at least driving through half of the country. We had booked our return flight from Los Angeles and had no other plans whatsoever. We decided to stop the first night in the town of Gunnison, Colorado, a real midwestern town consisting of one big street lined with gas stations, fast food places and motels.

I saw this cowboy there, he was probably calling his cows. I took the picture from quite a distance and cropped a lot of the original photo. I now have the advatage of a 14.7 megapixels camera. Enough pixels remain in a serious crop!
