Photographer's Note
The Loch - Rocky Mountain National Park
I believe the Loch is my favorite place in Rocky Mountain National Park. It sits at an elevation of 10,140 ft. (3,090 meters) below a dramatic "cathedral" wall ... It is more than I can fit in the frame .. I need to get back up here and work on some panoramic stitching.
The Loch is a gorgeous 3 mile walk from the Glacier gorge trail head .. with some "add insult to injury" steep switch backs as you ascend the Loch Vale ...
When I was a graduate student this was one of my favorite haunts .. it has become an unfortunately far rarer visit now .. I took a wonderful day this summer after the kids were all back in school and I was still out and snuck up here .. wonderful peaceful place.

Hi John a lovely looking place and a lovely photo with a good looking atmosphere to it!, nice composition and colours, and depth of field, Have you ever wondered why you like taking water shot so often, I try hard to go and take some thing else, but its no use when ever I see something I like and I get the camera out, where am I? yes that right stannding beside the water again or its not far away, I wonder if I could get pills that would help!! thanks for sharing.
Cheers Donald

Nice view of this beautiful spot. The light is a bit dull, making it difficult to get dramatic shots, but this shows the pristine lakes and sheer rock faces that make this place so spectacular. Well done!

Hi John,
The fascination for the Rocky Mountains come from my childhood (you know, the western movies!). It's very nice this shot, the autumn colors in the trees at right, the water and overall the high mountains, a really worth background! Very very nice! Thanks,
Angel.

Hi John!
This one is great! So much beauty and calm. The clouded - a bit threatening - sky works very well here. I like especially the build up of this photo. A most impressive scenery!
Greetings from Germany!

A nicely composed image John. The rising mountainsides at the edges frame the picture well. The trees speak of lushness while the rocky mountains speak of the wilderness beyond. It must be cold up there all year round.

Hi John,
In spite of not being able to capture the full scene, your photo shows well why it is a favorite place. I think it's the excellent DOF that makes the canyon a deep and mystical place.
