Photographer's Note

In the summer of 2005, I went to a music festival in Hillsdale, New York (near where New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts all meet) and because I don't own a car (I haven't for almost nine years), I flew to Boston where I was picked up by friends.

My return flight was delayed by weather, then, once boarded, an attendant asked for volunteers to leave the flight due to excess weight. I volunteered and got a hotel stay and a voucher for a round-trip ticket to anywhere in the contiguous United States. With about a month to go before the voucher expired, I decided to make San Francisco my destination as I kinda figured it was about as far as I could go from Michigan and still be in the states.

Besides, I had a lot flickr pals there, and I would arrive in time for a meet-up and photo exhibit opening.

Despite that the temperatures hovered near 100°F the entire time I was there, not one cloud interrupted what I thought then was the clearest blue sky I'd ever seen (fog not included, of course). The city is truly one of the most beautiful places I've ever been (and hope to see again soon). San Francisco has slightly nudged out Boston as my second favourite city, after Paris.

This is at the intersection of Powell Street and Green Street (also known as Beach Blanket Babylon Boulevard).
