Photographer's Note

The Santa Monica Pier is an internationally known structure, full of amusement park rides and food. A meeting place, and a place full of fun for both locals and tourists alike, this 100 year old pier shoots out into the Pacific Ocean from the coastline of this up-scale Los Angeles area city. It's been seen in countless movies and TV shows, and even re-created in many modern video games that have taken place in Los Angeles, or a city based off it.

The lights on the Ferris Wheel are always changing and performing in a mesmerizing display; as many photos as one may see of this particular structure, you will never see any two that are absolutely identical. Depending on the rate of your shutter, you may get a fine image of that exact sequence, or a blur of lights that have been blending together over the course of 5, 10, 20 seconds--or whatever interval you end up choosing.

My first true attempt at night photography, the product was a mix of decent efforts. It was both funny and great to see a large collection of photographers out doing the same thing I was; honing skills, improving their product, and capturing unique pieces of architecture in one of the most recognizable cities in the World.
