Photographer's Note

This rock has had a strange course across the lake bed, the winds have changed several times pushing it in different directions. It's impossible to tell how many discrete moves it has taken or over what period of time though I would imagine each stroke would be a separate occurrence. The surface of the lake bed is dried mud which only gets slippery when it gets wet.

The colour on the playa changed continuously as the sun dipped below the cliffs to the west, earlier pictures were a light tan with the last ones having a dramatic orange/red tint.
