Photographer's Note
All day I'd been plagued by rain showers and clouds uncooperatively shadowing the landscape. My final stop for the day on the Grand Canyon's north rim was Point Sublime. Arriving there, I had a few minutes' grace before a real storm hit and I had to retreat to my vehicle for shelter. The storm pivotted on the Point before continuing upcanyon. Even as I thought "It'd be great if there was a rainbow," one and then another began to grow from the canyon's floor.
Point Sublime is 18 miles of dirt road from State Route 67. A sign about 1 mile along it basically says that unless you have the right vehicle and know how to drive it, turn around! From that point on you need a high clearance 4x4 vehicle.
