Photographer's Note
I left from San Francisco and im travelling back to the Grand Canyon - just in my mind of course.. :)
Some friends asked me to post more pictures from hike down to the Colorado river, so here it goes :)
I woke up at 3 a.m that day and around 4 a.m. we were already on this trail with my friend - Kaibab trail.
Why so early you may ask?.. :)
For simple reason - to avoid the heat and to get down to the Colorado before noon.
It was my first sunrise which i saw there and it was so mystical and beautiful..
I will post more pictures next days and i hope you will enjoy this "hiking serie" :)

Hi Veronika,
I validate your early morning choice, not only because of the heat, but as well because you were here at the best time to take pictures. The warming of the stones and plant as well as the early sun ray catch are excellent here, and I appreciate too that despite the strong light at the top we get to see the other side in the background which adds a small sensation of vertigo.
Have a nice day,
Jean-yves

Hi, Veronika. Very beautiful picture. Lightened coleur terre cuite stones and grass in "west style" looks wonderful and give fresh morning feeling, when sun still not burn but warm. I like specialy it is visible on your photo how rays permeate air over this stunning space, but still don't reach ground and valleys at the bottom of the photo are dark.

Hi Vero :)
Happy to see you going back to canyon !
What contrasts and colors you managed here ! I love them, i'm pretty sure you used some PP treatment and gave more light and then more shadow to this picture, the result is very convincing and i love the "herbs" with this ray of light just shinning on them
Congratulations Vero :))

Hi Veronika. Nice, deep view you have here. The pov is good and the light on the rocks is really splendid. I would however have tried to avoid or crop the hard light. That must have been some trail; it looks very adventurous; I remember the Colca canyon in Peru; it looks kinda similar. Have a nice day!! ciao!

Hi VerO (my O es in the keybOard Only wOrk with capital wOrds :( ) The place is fantastic , seems a picture with a nice light stream that divides the cadrage int聯 2 parts clearing up the right and creating a misty shadey backgrOund as a "sfumattO" renaissence landscape . Kisses ! and cOngratulatiOns fOr yOur studies , surely yOu have such a great time travelling sOON !

Wow, great light, Veronica, and you took advantage really well! Your framing shows the way the trail is perched on a ledge, particularly with the golden light to make it stand out against the vast canyon beyond. That's worth getting up a 3 a.m. for! Regards, Ken.

Dearest Veronika,
Great POV and an excellent sharp ray of light ,so pleasing and well caught ,but I think the DOF is not set right adding a little Dof would have resulted in an even greater shot.
Best wishes,Mammad.

Veronika I see you have posted a photo of a wonderful backlighting scene. I love the details of the rocks and grass along this pathway. I would suggest a cropping of the top section where the pixels are blown out. The digital camera can only capture a limited amount of light range...so unlike that of the human eye. If you like backlighting scenes you will see some in my gallery. Thanks for posting this wonderful view along the pathway!

Hello Veronika. I like the composition and the colours of your photo. May be the light is hard and the photo is a bit overexposed. But the final result isn't bad. Good job.
Yeray.

Hi Veronika.
Fantastic colours of that grass, I like the sun rays peeking too and the title. The view in the back of the steep canyon walls is breathtaking, the way you crop the foreground is also adding to the feeling of height.
all the best, Aleks

Hi Veronika. Your efforts were rewarded with a spectacular play of light. This sort of shot makes me want to go back and see it again. I'm curious about what's around the bend. tfs Veronika.

Following Mr. Thanh's "critiques" page, I am glad I meet you here.
I felt like you and him have many similar styles of approaching a topic, or discovering special view to look into daily scenes. For that, I am having you as my favorite photographer whom I should learn your composition.
Regards,
YC
