Photographer's Note

The following day, the parents did not have any obligatory meetings, so we decided to continue with our touristic expedition. We started out with the Monument Terrace near the riverfront. Here is what Lynchburg Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau website says about the place: ”The inspiring rise of Monument Terrace commemorates Lynchburg citizens who fought and died in the Civil War, Spanish-American War, World Wars I and II, Korea, Vietnam and present day. At the base on Church Street stands the iconic doughboy* statue. Many other sculptures and markers line the 139 steps and terraces all the way to the top, where the Lynchburg Museum at the Old Court House stands on Court Street.“

*Doughboy is a term that refers to U.S. infantry men, especially to those of WW1 era.
