Photographer's Note
This streetcar was named "2024" and was running along Canal Street.
Its been 40 years since the Canal Streetcar rumbled down the business district of the city, but this local treasure began revenue service, April 18, 2004.
The new Canal Streetcar takes thousands of locals and tourists to work and play each day as it travels the five-and-a-half mile route from the French Market, along Canal Street through the Central Business District of New Orleans and into the Mid-City area. The line ends at City Park Avenue and the historic city cemeteries.

Hej Gunnar
This is a wonderful composition with great colors and a superb clarity. I just love those deep saturated colors of yours. Great as well how the rails of the streetcar lead the eye in to the photo towards that gorgeous tramway.

Hello Gunnar,
A very beautiful urban landscape picture with a remarkably big difference in height between the buildings behind the palm trees at the left and the highrise further down the avenue.
Excellent clarity, brightness and sharpness. Very colourful. The red and yellow streetcar is a real eye-catcher.
The sun must be high in the sky because the shadows are very small.
I hope that the city is recovered completely from the Hurricane Katrina disaster in 2005.
Best regards, Paul

Hej Gunnar!
Mannen i ljusblå tröja gör ju oxå nytta i sammanhanget.
Pröva att kapa reklamskylten, i sidled, i övre högra hörnet! Den stör mig lite.
Hoppas du fick hyggligt väder i NYC!

Hei Gunnar
Kjempeflott!
Ha en fin søndag.

Hello Gunnar,
So this is a product of your new Canon G1X! Judging by the exquisite details and sharpness of this shot and the total lack of any "noise" whatsoever, I suspect that already you are falling in love with your new camera!
Excellent composition, the tramlines leading the eye into the picture and the bright red tramcar making a real statement and dominating the picture. Lovely vibrant colours and perfect exposure.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hej Gunnar,
Vilket fantastiskt ljus.

Good Morning Gunnar,
A shot with excellent clarity.
I like how you have used the tram lines to act as guide to the focal tram, which is very strongly positioned in the frame.
The colours are attractive but still natural.
Have a lovely holiday,
Bev :-)

I like the fact that they are faithful to classic streetcar design. Those bright colours and panel windows look really good. And very nice spacious and sunny city square with high rise background.

Hej Gunnar,
Gert

Hello Gunnar,
Very witty title and a superb image. I like the point of view with the streetcar placed off--centre, allowing us to appreciate the perspective along the street. First class technical presentation. You seem to have had very good weather during during trip to the Big Easy.

Hi Gunnar
an immaculate shot this, so clear and beautifully colourful, but it is your superbly chosen POV that makes it effective and gives it irresistible impact. A quality image and classic example of how to get the most out of thoughtful composition. Well done!

Ciao Gunnar
Complimenti!. Mi piace molto.
Ciao e buona domenica

Hello dear Gunnar,
Nice capture nice entry. Very good pov and layout and almost zero distortion.
The strong red color of the tram creates a perfect contrast.
When viewing it I believed I'm hearing a jazz music from somewhere around the corner ! I think that you had the chance to listen to a New Orleans Band, the Mecca of the Jazz !

Bonsoir, cher Gunnar,

Hi Gunnar
you fooled me! I thought for sure right away that this was taken in San Francisco.
what a powerful visual impact the black solid lines have on the overall scene!
but of course the star of the show is the rail car itself.
a smart looking inner city scene.

I have not been to New Orleans since the hurricane and wonder whether it has changed much. The shiny street car makes a super subject against the grey buildings and blue sky. You have excellent clarity in this shot and a lovely view down the street.

Hello Gunnar,
the neatness and balance of this composition are amazing and the colour definition is fantastic. The intricate urban patterns have been arranged in a most orderly way and there's superb depth; much is based on the perspective of the tracks entering the frame diagonally and spreading towards the background. The light is lovely and bathes everything evenly without creating shadows. What's also striking is that all the colours have exactly the same intensity and this offers the image a fascinating graphical impact. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
Ourania

Hi Gunnar,
Wonderful red :) streetcar. The have so much charm. Interesting that you went to New Orleans. Are any traces of Kathrina still visible? I would like to go there. My dream is to go by a steam ship on Mississippi River. Are they still making the cruises? Superb postcard.

Well done, Gunnar. You seem to have mastered a technique that I struggle with -- how to "make" lines that run into the foreground work with the composition. I study your work for clues!
I hope you enjoyed your time in New Orleans, "a city to eat your way through." I heard a funny remark about the level of municipal services there; I think it will survive the language and cultural barriers. A friend of mine recently said... "You can think of New Orleans as the worst-run city in America. But I prefer to think of it as the best-run city in the Caribbean."
All my best to you both,
Russ

Hi Gunnar,
You're capturing well this cityscape by a good composition and very excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see attractive streetcar with red and yellow colors and modern high buildings in back. it's also impressive in tropical tree located in a line with the both sides of a passage. And, the winding track lane in FG draws out a good impact in this image.
Kind regards,

Hi Gunnar
A superb composed view of the vibrant city in brilliant clarity and tones. Love the technique with dynamism as we can feel the depth is being stretched all the way and effective use of diagonal and convergence. The red tram is perfectly used as strong anchor point leading us into the scene and presence of human interest is always vital as shown. Great shot indeed full of rich colours and light certainly has been used to a very good effect here. Congrats
Best regards
