Florida Everglades, a photo from Florida, South

Photographer's Note

This photo was taken while on an airboat ride in the Florida Everglades just outside of Weston.
The Florida Everglades are subtropical marshland located in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Florida, specifically in parts of Monroe, Collier, Palm Beach, Miami-Dade, and Broward counties. Water leaving Lake Okeechobee in the wet season forms the Everglades, a shallow, slow-moving flood at one time 40 miles (60 km) wide and over 100 miles (160 km) long moving southward across a nearly flat limestone shelf to Florida Bay at the southern end of the state. The Everglades extends from Lake Okeechobee on the north to Florida Bay on the south and was once bordered by Big Cypress Swamp on the west and the Atlantic Coastal Ridge on the east. It has been called River of Grass (Douglas, 1947) because of the slow flow of water from Okeechobee southward and the predominance of a sedge known as sawgrass. Slightly elevated points in this extremely flat area are covered with trees, usually cypress and red mangrove.(wikipedia)

A good impression of this watery place Asa.
The composition is just fine.Is it all so open in the Everglades? Or are there areas where there are trees?
The blue sky is a good complement to all the shades of green.

You commented on my shot for today which was taken from a boat, and here you are posting a shot from an airboat.Coincidence?

Hello Asa,
The low viewpoint makes this image for me along with the apparently never ending perspective over the water. I like also the contrast between the green vegetation and the nice cloudy sky. Excellent colours and definition.

Hi Asa,
This is a photp that grows on the viewer, as the thumbnail does not do justice to the subtle tones and variations of green hues. The reflections are also sublte of course, which helps give this an ethereal quality. The puffy clouds really enhance and give the photo the extra verve and zip. Overall, a rather painterly scene, well captured. You really controlled the exposure level here.

A very complete total effect, Asa. The clouds and blue sky draw us in, the water vegetation and leftward banks also add inviting lines that lead the eye. Good colors and contrasts. Helpful note, too.

a nice shot of everglades, asa. in your composition, the water appears "glading" as it should be in everglades. bright lively green against ornate sky. well seen and captured. TFS.

it's also good to see the glades recovered their water. when we were there earlier this year, water levels had severely dropped. we could not go very far from the air-boat station.
