Photographer's Note

Aún en NY City. Esta foto es una especie de experimento, está tomada desde la ventana de mi hotel, mirando hacia el oeste, y se puede ver otro hotel, el Sheraton, en su fachada de la calle 53 con la 7th Avenue.
En estos edificios tan altos, las ventanas no se pueden abrir, y, en consecuencia, cualquier intento de tomar una foto desde allí se dificulta por la presencia del cristal entre la cámara y el exterior.
Me gustó el paisaje urbano de esta zona del Midtown, y los brillos del sol en la parte alta de los edificios, y el experimento consistió en intentar evitar los reflejos o brillos que el cristal de mi ventana podía dar a mi foto.
Creo que lo conseguí, y aunque la foto sea una imagen muy urbana sin interés, pienso que muestra la sensación un poco claustrofóbica que se siente dentro de estos edificios. Afortunadamente, Central Park está a pocos minutos de este lugar.

Still in NY City. This photo is a kind of experiment, is taken from the window of my hotel, looking towards west, and one can see another hotel, the Sheraton, in his front of the 53rd street with 7th Avenue.
In these so high buildings, the windows cannot be opened, and, in consequence, any attempt of taking a photo from there is impeded by the presence of the glass between the camera and the outside.
I liked the urban landscape of this zone of the Midtown, and the sheens of the Sun in the high part of the buildings, and the experiment consisted of trying to avoid the reflections or sheens that the glass of the window could give to my photo.
I believe that I obtained it, and though the photo is a very urban image without interest, I think that it shows the a bit claustrophobic sensation that one feels inside these buildings. Lucky, Central Park is to a few minutes of this place.

Hola mi amigo Josep,

You caught a very good scene from inside. I like huge view of buildings while they are reflecting sky lights from narrow space. Sheratons yellow bands and reflections are nicely captured. I was afraid while reading your note because unopened windows must be so dangerous and frightening. It’s good for me to live in middle of –closer to- nature. Congratulations.

Hi Josep - the claustrophobic mood well achieved, it can really be a sea of shadows even in a sunny day... I know that area 'cos I stayed for a couple of months in 54tn btwn 7th and Broadway, but surprisingly I had a relatively open view to the west, from an 11th floor... thanks for sharing and regards, Daniel

Hi Josep - for me, it's an interesting image as I find this kind of urban environment almost oppressive - there's no sign of any space amongst these massive buildings (even though, as you point out, Central Park is nearby). I love NYC too but on my first visit I really found the height of these buildings to be quite striking! We don't have anyhting like that here...

Good experiment, I think you've succeeded in getting the kind of shot you wanted.

En mi hotel viejo, lo ventana podria abrir arededor 4'/10 cm. Usted debe haber vistome el intentar conseguir el ángulo correcto en ese espacio pequeño. HLJ, Pat

La sensació aquesta de claustrofòbia que ben dius a la foto és el que transmet i, per tant, una foto ben feta ja que has tret el que volíes treure.

Hola Josep!!! Después de ver tu galería de Nueva York, me dan deseos de estar ahí nuevamente. Una imagen que ejemplifica muy bien la guerra por el espacio que tenemos hoy en día en los centros urbanos. Donde son muy pocos los afortunados que llegan a tener una vista otra de las ventanas del edificio del frente. Bonitos colores y un angulo interesante. Quedamos a espera de ver mas de NY con tu putno de vista!

Pues yo creo que el experimiento te ha salido genial. En mi hotel de Bangkok tampoco se podian abir las ventanas y me quedé con las ganas de una panoramica con el metro elevado que pasaba por alli.
La luz y los reflejos en el Sheraton con muy buenos y la luz esta bien equilibrada.

Me gusta el reflejo color oro que le da el otro edificio a las ventanas del Hotel Sheraton, la definicion y la composicion estan muy buenas. Hiciste un buen trabajo de no sacar reflejos de tu ventana. Tu punto de vista es estupendo.

Nota, nom i foto m'agraden i em fan reflexionar. New York és una ciutat molt cosmopolita, molt moderna. Però crec que jo em tornaria boig (no està feta per mi).
I en certa manera aquesta foto es una bona prova: tot el que veiem son edificis. No hi ha cap toc humà, cap persona. Només una esquerda oberta a un cel buit.

Une vue superbe de cette architecture de NY.
J'aime particulièrement la façade de l'hôtel avec de belles couleurs et un beau graphisme. J'aurais peut-être recadré en enlevant la partie de gauche.

Bonjour Josep,

New york et sa forêt de buildings !!! Image bien représentative de ces constructions florissantes. Une belle mise en lumière bien que ces mastodontes donnent beaucoup d'ombres. J'aimbe bien les couleurs et reflets dans les vitres. Une belle composition.

photo loin de la nature, en pleine grande ville, ou l'on retrouve les droites et les reflets.
Les reflets qui constituent d'ailleurs le point fort de la photo avec aussi ces nuances de jaunes.
