Photographer's Note
A few days ago I had a lovely walk in Manhattan, looking for spring colors. This scene is from Madison Square Park.
This small but lively park sits across the street from the Flatiron Building on 23rd Street. It has a children's playground, a dog run, a fountain, and a popular Shake Shack restaurant. There are several statues of historical figures, and rotating art installations. There is also impressive architecture on all sides.
The weather was warm, and many people were enjoying the park. A small jazz band also played some nice music.
In the WS is more spring color.

Hi Brenda, spring has exploded in your city while in mine continues to rain here and there is no way out for the moment. Two beautiful photos, which show the power of nature even in the middle of concrete and which gives brilliant colors among the gray buildings, the perspective of the main photo is truly magical! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Brenda,
I prefer your WS if head picture.
Through the nice blossoms of the Japanese cherie tree.
Also your head picture with flowers of different colours makes your picture attractive.
Excellent panorama and city scape
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,
John

Hello Brenda,
You bring the flowers closer to us in the main photo, but I actually think the WS is a better composition. We see the spectacular architecture behind the bright trees, and there is an active human participation by the woman looking closely at the pink tree. The musicians provide human touch in the main photo, but they're quite far away. Both photos are very nice, and there is a fine light, but I am in favor of the WS, maybe also for the vertical shape.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Brenda,
The purple and yellow flowers in the midground add a showy splash of colour to this park. Good sharpness and the musician seems to have gathered a small crowd watching from a safe distance. Tfs!

Hello Brenda, I was in this park but I haven't taken any photos, I was rather interested in Flatiron :). Difficult to believe ten years passed, I was also in spring and everywhere there were a lot of spring flowers. Here nice tulips purple and yellow, but what are these white flowers? I guess they can be Prunus laurocerasus, also known as cherry laurel, I have similar in my little harden. Lovely quiet atmosphere. I wonder what they played. Excellent composition.
Have a nice sunny Sunday
PS. I have found some photos from this place. One is in Workshop.

Hello Brenda,
In the WS I see that the scaffolding at the Flatiron Building have gone. As for that special building, I was less lucky in 2019.
The flower bed lavishly adorns the foreground of your photo.
A little further, some musicians create atmosphere on the square.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Brenda,
Such a lovely view of the park on a sunny day in spring, when the people were enjoying the sunshine and the music by the band in the background. Especially the purple flowers look very appealing. Thank you for asking about my father. He's doing fine, just too busy with many other things to post a new photo. He got his first vaccination last week.

Hello Brenda, three lovely pictures, spring flowers bathed in bright sunshine.
I like this composition with the flowers almost filling the frame, with a corner providing context for the situation. And I spy musicians.
I like the shot with the close up of the tulips and the Flatiron in the background. It could have been a main post(?)
Kind regards, Jean.

Bright day and we see people outside at the small Medison park, Brenda.
Nicely combined the sight of the fresh flowewrs bed, people at the benches and a small band in an outdoor concert.
Vividly presented scene.
Have a nice sunday,
Ike

Hello Brenda,
I really like your viewpoint for this shot, which gives an amazing curved f/g of different textures and colours, made by the flowers. It makes the whole scene your secret, as the figures have their backs to the colours, unaware of what they are missing, but you have shared it with us!
Not a scene you would immediately link with NY.
Love the shot with the flowers prefacing the Gridiron, too.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)
How are things in the city now. Is the pandemic a little more under control, as you are out and about again?
