puffers pond is a popular tanning and swimming hangout for amherst students, locals, fishermen (trout and bass abound), random photographers and even police horses... the pond stays perpetually fresh due to being fed by a stream at one end, while excess water exits the pond at the opposite end via a small, artificial waterfall. hope you like this simple capture of the sanctuary.

tech details: f/22 for 1/60 @ iso 400. camera was handheld. i planned to go back and retake the shot with a tripod the next day, but rain came and would not leave these parts... as a result, a good part of the autumn leaves are gone already (two days after i took this photo).

This is an outstanding photo with a fine reflection. The reflection adds nice depth and balance to the shot. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF.

nice shot, I quite like the distinct triangles of the trees and their reflection, and I agree that for these kind of autumn shots water with reflections emphasise the colours. great sky and good detail too.

Hi Kristaps, another excellent photo. Beautiful colors on the trees and you captured them at the perfect time. Nice contrast against the blue sky and the water. I like that there are clouds on the sky, it adds more dimension to the photo.
Just a beautiful place to be.

Hello Kristaps! I don't think it is simple but rather a wonderful way to show us fall in New England. Well chosen that you included some foreground with the branch above us giving the needed depth. The fall colors are simply amazing and there are certain nuances of red and orange that are definitely missing in the fall I am just going through in Switzerland. This is really nice, I like it. Nice again, Kristaps, I see your 10-20 produces quite decent results, light here is very good as we can see all the different autumn colours and their reflections darkened by the water... A beautiful sky, and the branch framing it on top is the cherry on the cake.

Brilliant reflection of the brilliant autumn colors and blue white sky gathered in the calm waters of this lovely little pond. I really like your POV catches the end of the pond and a bit of the other shore to create a J shaped image. The colors aver very clear with excellent sharpness to this wonderful autumn landscape.

Hi Kristaps,
I am coming from the Fuji Velvia 50 slide film, a film with deep saturated colours and extreme high contrast...the best ever made. And some colours from those old days reminds me when i saw this picture. Absolute stunning colours in a wonderful reflected lake. But not only the colors but also the great perspective made this one into a very interesting composition.
Nice detail are the leaves on top, they create a nice depth in the image.
Really excellent work, i like it a lot.

une photo dans laquelle tu as poussé les couleurs un peu fort, cela les rend bien entendu plus séduisantes mais les éloigne un rien de la réalité.
C'est bien cadré et montre un superbe ciel.

Those colours are amazingly well saturated. Did you boost them in post production? Either way an excellent shot. Clean, simple composition means that the wonderful colours aren't fighting for attention. I like it very much. Thanks for sharing it with us, PHIL

What a marvelous landscape photograph! The composition, rich colors, sharpness are all outstanding! Colorado has stunning alpine scenery but our autumn colors are simply not in the same class as your amazing New England colors. That Sigma lens of yours rated the highest of all of the DX style ultra wide-angle zooms, and looking at your work here I am a believer. Fabulous!

Kristaps, I know it almost a year after the post but it is almost this time again. In my yard the leaves are turning already and I am so looking forward to another fall spectacle like this one you have captured. Great shot, detail and color are awesome.
