St. Louis Riverfront, a photo from Missouri, Midwest

Photographer's Note

The City of St. Louis Missouri riverfront, as captured from the east bank of the Mississippi River on the Illinois side. f/8 with an 8 second exposure at iso 100. A tripod was used, at a very low height, just off the water level. Post processing in photshop consisted of a slight boost in saturation and contrast, and some unsharp mask.

Cityscapes are important for every photographers collection, and this is a good one to add to yours. Reflections of the water are great and the lights of the city aren't too bright either.

Youve also managed to take it at the right time of day, as the blue gradient of the sky also does a lot for the image.

HI Scott, it's a fine night photo, shooting time is appropriate and enables this very beautiful deep blue sky, city lights and building reflections in the water are superb, the rising arch is also a welcome element to animate this composition. One thing to mention, you could have framed a bit lower to get less sky and include the whole arch's reflection.

This is what I thought I should be able to take . But when I went on Dec 24th, 2005, weather was overcasting and not catchy at all. Very beautiful evening sky Scott.

The best shot of the arch on TE, although it would be even better with more of the arch's reflection, if that is possible, and there seems to be a slight tilt. It would be interesting to see it shot in portrait format as well.
