Photographer's Note

Summit Lake State Park in New Castle, Indiana, is a popular destination for fishing, both in the summer and winter months. This photo was taken from the surface of the lake. There is an ice-fishing shanty between the two trees in this photo, though it is some distance away and may be difficult to see.

Summit Lake was formed in 1980 with the construction of a dam. There is still evidence, as seen in this photo, of the wooded areas that were destroyed by the filling-in of the lake.
