Photographer's Note

This statue is quite unique of all the monuments at any of the major cemeteries in Chicago. Though seeing statues of angels or woman donning wet look robes in reference to late Classical and Helenistic styles is notunusual, this sculpture is quite unique in that it leaves NOTHING to the imagination. Not only does the figurative cloth hug below the breasts revealing the entire shape, but also the nipples can clearly be seen in the details. Considering this statue was erected in a cemetery in the late 19th century, this had to have created quite a scandel at the time. I composed her with the tree branches in the backgraound to create either an illusion of spider webs or wings depending on how you look at it. This piece is part of a greater body of work that I am near completing. Let me know what you think.
