Photographer's Note

Hello friends and colleagues, this photo today I invite you to stroll through a beautiful ancient city in northern Portugal, I hope you like it, then a few letters of the city.

About 50 kilometers from the Spanish border in northern Portugal, Viana do Castelo is, beautiful village located between the mouth of the Minho and Porto.

Viana do Castelo is located on the estuary of Limia, a river which rises in Galicia and the Atlantic will die. So when the traveler overlooking the sea has the feeling of being at a river, but when you see the big boats docked there they know that since cod fishermen.

There is a hospital ship, the Eanes, which commemorates the tempests of the Grand Banks, and full historic crests reminiscent of better times, when money came to Portugal from the colonies. Great houses of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

Best of Viana do Castelo is the Antigo Area, with cobbled streets leading from place to place and from street to street, approaching palaces and churches. With sun always travels better, but there cityscapes seem to ask a little rain to highlight the reflections of the stone.

The Republic Square is the heart of the historic center, where are the Town Hall, Mercy Hospital and a source of 1553. There are also in place with Romanesque collegiate and several baroque churches. Should see also neo-Byzantine basilica of Santa Luzia and the Municipal Museum.

beautiful narrow street in Viana do Castelo. How great that it is for pedestrians only and there are no cars. How wise to build so narrow streets, with shadow in a hot day. Fantastic perspective, nice colors and sharpness.
