Photographer's Note
Back from a 6 days trip to Milos, that magnificent island, which is my absolute favourite among the Kyklades. More than 80 fantastic beaches, some of them among the most spectacular of Greece, great traditional architecture, and an open-air geological museum.
Milos has been since the prehistoric years, a huge mineral centre, providing obsidian for tool making to allmost each and everyone one of the prehistoric settlements in Greece. Its geological importance stays at a very high leven until today, and in the mines of the island you can see unbelievable images and extraordinary colour pallette.
All around the island, you can see more than 20 bridges, from new and still functioning to old abandoned ones (one of my favourite photographic subjects), that are (or were) used to load minerals to ships. This one is located at Alykes (means "salterns") and was probably used for loading salt.
We 'll have the chance to talk a lot about Milos in some future posts.
***MORE PHOTOS FROM MILOS***
*TECHNICAL INFO:
I lowered manually the ISO to 50, used a small aperture (f/16), an ND-4 (2-stop down) filter, a polarizer and a tripod for this long shutter speed.

Geia sou Hrakli,
I'm si happy... a lot of photo from Milo from you... ouahhh!
I too, it is my favorite island of Cyclades (but I do not know them all!) colors are really extraordinary, with iron, suffers , lhe black obsidian... I remember having my pockets full of pebbles of all kinds when I came back in the plane and I still have all the peebles in Paris! but it is the obsidian which I prefer.
In this time, I had seen this bridge, but I had especially been to bathe near Alikès in a place where there are very hot springs on the beach and in the sea and where yaya and Papous remain hours without moving in the water! I do not know if you went there, it was the owner of the room that I rented who had taken me.
Here is a very strange iron perspective put on the sea and that seems to want to join the sun.
I also like the reflections of the sun on the fragments of metal and the lights of Adamas in the distant.
I'm waitting for others one!

Hola Hercules,
Excelente.
Un abrazo, amigo mío,
Josep

Hi Hercules,
The eye is really drawn to the horizon first by the pieces of wood/metal with the light shining off them in the foreground and then by the remaining piece of bridge its self. Wonderful soft colours.

Hi Hercules,
the colors of the sunset are really stunning. Amazing work. The composition is excellent too. I like the hills on the horizon and the surface of the sea. Even the elements of the collapsed bridge have some reflections in it which makes the shot even more colorful.
Fantastic work!!! TFS

hi Hercules,
a fine sunset here, around the main subject that is this disused bridge (an interesting subject indeed). This one gives a nice perspective, leadind to others islands on the background.
Of course, the light is perfect and the exposure time gives this nice smooth water.

Hello Hercules,
I meant to critique this when I first saw it but was short of time.I like this because of the leading lines created by the bridge structure in the foreground and because of the lovely pinky mauve of the water. You have used thirds compo to good effect.I found the technical deatils on how you achieved this interesting.
