Photographer's Note

Overlooking the vast Mesopotamian plains is the Zinciriye Medresesi, in the town of Mardin. A madrasah (Islamic school) built by the Artuqids, rulers of the area then. It was built in 1385, is a fine example of Madrasa architecture.

Mardin is a city in southeastern Turkey, and is the capital of Mardin Province. It is situated on top of a hill and cascades down, with stone buildings which seem to camouflage themselves with the landscape.

It is great just to wander around the small street and soak in the atmosphere, there is a nice local market too.
