Photographer's Note

last weekend, with a couple of friends i went to county kerry, on the south west coast of ireland to climb carrauntoohil, the highest mountain in ireland.

i had been looking forward to the amazing scenery and the chance to take pictures during our seven hour walk. but in the end, there was a blazing sun with the temperature over 25C, the wind at the top was fierce, there was a slight haze on the horizon, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. the hottest day of the year so far. ordinarily we'd give a right arm for such 'perfect' weather.

not great though for taking photographs. i took about two hundred pictures, and they all looked pretty disappointing due to the harsh sun and no clouds.

the next morning we got up for an early morning drive before breakfast, and we came across this river, the river caragh i think, just after sunrise. the macgillycuddy's reeks mountain range, where we had walked the day before, is in the background. i took two pictures before the midges began to eat us alive.
