Photographer's Note

This is my second offering from our weekend in the Southern Highlands. I’d photographed Fitzroy Falls once before, about a year ago, but I wasn’t happy with the result or the pov, I didn’t think the shot was worth posting on TE. I’ve posted the shot as a workshop for you to judge for yourself.

Some time ago Ian Fegent (ifege) posted this Shot and then Peter Mostert (mozzy27) posted this Shot of the Falls from another much more interesting pov, looking back at the Falls. They had set my curiosity going.
A couple of weeks ago our dear TE friend Bulent, (batalay) posted a lovely shot he’d captured of a foggy day in his front garden HERE .

The Saturday morning at the Burrawang cottage was very overcast with lots of fog around, so, inspired by Bulent’s shot, and the boys shots, I set off to find the pov both Ian and Peter had found for the Fitzroy Falls, hoping as well, that the falls might be shrouded in the same amount of fog we had around the cottage I was staying in. It is about a twenty kilometre drive from where we were staying in Burrawang to the Falls. Armed with Ian and Peter’s shots in mind I set about finding their pov. It took a little while to find the vantage point the boys had shot from, but eventually after some bush bashing in my car and a bit of a walk through the bush I found their pov. In fact there were two spots about four hundred meters apart, the second of these was better as you could see the complete falls.

Sure enough there was still a fair bit of fog/mist in the air but the light was very very flat. Actually if I hadn’t gone to so much trouble to find the boys pov I wouldn’t have posted this shot either. But…….what the heck.

Hope you like the shot.
