Photographer's Note
There has already been so much said how these wonderful " British Institutions" are being phased out. Technology, Governments or the economy may all have their input.. but they sure are a photographers dream.
This image is for all those out there that love everything Purely British. Especially for Romanaa, Marie Louise and Feathers , who both have expressed their love for these wonderful little institutions with images on their galleries.
I have worked on the image a bit, but the main lighting came from the cars headlights.
The Church in the back ground is St Pauls and St Peters Church which I posted earlier in the week..
This is a beautiful Church to photograph and I have a few more to post
St Paults Earlier Posting.

Hello Richard,
Not the first time this British emblem is photographed, but your photo stands out because of the fantastic light playing around the cabin, proudly standing and shining in almost fluorescent red.

Hello Richard ,
Purely british , for sure ! But very attractive , too . Superb contrast of the red cabine with the deep blue sky and the golden church in the BG . May be that you should have cropped the piece of car in the right .

Hello Richard,
This is a fine and striking wide-angle shot, using your lens at its widest (10mm) setting. Good saturated colours too. I presume you must have used a tripod for this one, though i don't see any details of shutter speed in your exif data.
For those interested in the history of this, this is the "K6" or "Jubilee" telephone box which was introduced in 1935, the year of the Silver Jubilee of King George V. Designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott (who was also the architect who designed the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool) it has become iconic, only having been superseded by the more modern "K8" box with plain glass sides in the late 1960's.
Interestingly, Sir Giles Gilbert Scott was a Roman Catholic and designed the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool: Sir Frederick Gibberd, who designed Liverpool's Roman Catholic Cathedral, was a protestant!
By the way, if you would like a "K6" telephone box to grace your garden or even to use as a feature in your living room, you can buy one here. But you won't be able to take it home on the roof of your car because they weigh 750Kg - three-quarters of a ton!
Best Wishes,
John.

Hello Richard,
you have scored a point :-). I have´t expected the phone box, I thought it would be something from Hawes.
But you are right I love the things that are purely British (or those that I consider to be purely British :-) )
The strong light makes the box shining, thank you very much for this special image.

Whaouh!
Thanks for the dedication!
You may have noticed I created a theme "GB Telephone kiosks", but I could find them mainly in London! So I am really pleased to find your two pictures to add to the theme!
One of these days, I shall also post a telephone booth that was given to Plougastel, Brittany (Where we live), by its twin-town Saltash, Cornwall!
Quite a few twin towns got such presents.
I love your illuminated picture! These remnants of the past have got to be highlighted, and never forgotten!
Thanks a lot!
Marie Louise.

Hello Richard,
I seem to recognise this telephone box. I like how you have framed the composition and the way you have so successfully managed the difficult lighting conditions. It would be a pity to see all these boxes disappearing forever. Trust you are keeping well and enjoying the spring weather.

Good morning, Richard.
In this photo you presented a very interesting point of view. Is an amazing view of the red telephone box on the background of an old church on the left side and right side of the street. Interesting atmosphere cause the light of the lanterns here. Climate recalls a bit, which can be found in books, Agatha Cristie.
Interesting light, color and mood.
Have a nice day,

Hi Richard!
A wonderful painting-like night photograph!
In 2000, I went with my mother to London, Paris and Rome! For London, I had 5 days and thought it'd be too much! I was wrong! I fell in love with the city and one of the reasons was those purely british icons!
TFS - congratulations!
Best regards,

Olá Ricx, nice original capture of the famous british icon. It sure stands out from this angle, bright and polished, almost looks like brand new :) Good contrast with the golden surroundings and blue of the sky in the background.

Hello Richard,
Nice composition with a particular lightning which provides a strong originality to this shot.
It makes me think about the TV serie The Avengers. We are in the mood with this so typical red phone box.

Hi Rich, when I looked at this thumbnail I thought it was from Australia, we had many of these type of phone booths around but slowly one by one they seem to have disappeared, I know that some were sold off & people bought them to place them in their own homes, restaurants etc, what a shame but I guess the vandals would have taken care of them anyway. Good to see this one is still standing & looking as good as the day it was placed there. Nice colourful shot with excellent light.
Cheers
