Gunung Batok above clouds, a photo from Jawa Timur, Java

Photographer's Note

Those of you who have seen my recent posts will recognize this place. This is the view of Gunung Batok from the slopes of Gunung Bromo. The mist covering the bottom of Tenger caldera is still there (it disappeared later on).

After seeing the sunrise from the edge of Tenger caldera (previous posts) we went into the caldera right to Bromo. It was a great ride in the mist. When we finally reached Bromo volcano, we could walk up above clouds and have this view of Batok.

Hello Michal,
Very impressive nature picture specially with the clouds below the mountain tops.
Is Gunung Batok also a vulcano (or dead vulcano) ? Or is its form the result of time and weather ?

i disagree with one of the previous critique, the foreground hill is a good element in the composition,
good light and excellent sharpness, interesting other photo from this place, less stereotyped
