Photographer's Note

The Battery Park Hotel is said to be haunted by the spirit of a woman who was brutally murdered.

Seventy seven years ago, on the morning of July 17th, the body of Helen Clevenger was discovered in room 224. She had been savagely beaten, shot, and her face slashed. An employee of the hotel, Martin Moore, eventually confessed and was put to death in the gas chamber.

On stormy nights (like this one, the night before last) Helen is said to be seen wandering the halls of the old hotel....

My apologies for the 'noise' in this shot -- I was zooming in like crazy (in what available light there was at close to 9 pm) from the balcony of the "sky bar" several blocks away. I just loved the erie moodiness of it against the violently unhappy dark clouds and sky.
