Photographer's Note

A beautiful alley of Guanajuato.

Theme: Guanjuato, Mexico

I spent four nights in Guanajuato including the New years eve. I had never heard of this town until the couple I met on the flight suggested that I visit this town. Guanajuato, originally famous for the silver mines that helped the Colonial barons make their fotune in 16th century, is presently a vibrant university town with stunning colonial achitecture and youthful culture. The first thing one notices is the splash of colours; pink, yellow, green, red, blue all the hues from the colour wheel randomly flashing against each other (everything may look white if you are spinning fast on a mary-go-round) defying all the norms of modern aesthetic sensibilities of the west. The town is crammed onto the steep slopes of a ravine with narrow alleys crisscrossing through the hillside offering an exquisite walking experience.
