Photographer's Note
First snow and then freezing rain, with more snow promised still to come!
I am glad that the skies cleared yesterday just long enough for me to snap a few photos of the neighbourhood.
The heavy load of ice has caused problems in many areas, bringing down branches into gardens, onto houses and roads. But ice-covered branches also make fabulous photographs!
This house is about four blocks away from me on a road that had not yet been ploughed. My car got stuck in the heavy wet snow a couple of times and when I tried walking my boots filled with water -- but I think it was worth it.
Tech: shot in RAW, converted to Jpeg, resized, and sharpened

Hi Silke
This is a wonderful look, too bad that the temperature is so warm after,as the snow is already going away.
i like the texture of the tree, like lace,a very delicate piece of art by mother nature, ephemeral.
I find the snow on the roof and the ground overexpose. You had a choice to make and in my eyes, you did the right one.You need to keep the house well exposed and the most important, was that tree, you had to keep it in focus.
ISO 1600?a ISO as low as possible is the best, especially to not get noise.By decreasing the focal to f/11 will still give you a good DOF and increase your speed at the same time.
A tripod will always insure that there will be no movement with a slower speed.
So many things to think about.
Have a good WE

Hello Silke. Here with us already is spring, although it rains much at present. As I see at your photos, the winter is in Kannada not yet past. But snow and ice offer also the most beautiful motives. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Bonsoir Silke,

Hello Silke,
So you're having the real bad weather these days..!
Here we enjoy a bit of spring today, bright sunshine and temps well above 0C...
Freezing rain is dangerous for many reasons but the result looks good on pictures!
Greetings,

Hi Silke
Lovely place to live in, nicely framed by snowy trees. A bit too cropped (tight) to my taste but I guess that the front porch was the main subject, so this is OK.

Hi Silke. A very well cropped image, showing the inviting looking house nestled in snow. The image is very sharp and brings out the textures very well, but I think it could be a little darker - I find the snow slightly over-exposed and the house a little lacking in contrast. However, the composition/cropping is marvellous.

Andrew

Hi Silke!
Beautiful combination of architecture and nature photography. Great vertical framing and simple but excellent composition. The exposure is just perfect and the snow the way it is supposed to be: White! Congratulations!
Best regards,
